Texas football cracks top 9 for 4-Star 2025 TE Jack VanDorselaer
One of the early-cycle targets at the tight end position for Texas football in the 2025 class is the touted Southlake Carroll (TX) four-star Jack VanDorselaer. Texas special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks identified VanDorselaer as a key target at the tight end position last offseason.
Banks and the Longhorns made the cut for VanDorselaer’s top nine schools, which he dropped on social media on July 25. The other eight schools in VanDorselaer’s top nine are the Oregon Ducks, Michigan Wolverines, Alabama Crimson Tide, TCU Horned Frogs, Miami Hurricanes, Baylor Bears, USC Trojans, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Texas and Baylor are the two schools that VanDorselaer has visited the most among his top group of nine since last summer. VanDorselaer has visited Texas twice unofficially since last summer, including one time for a game at DKR last fall.

VanDorselaer’s recruitment took off during the spring, as he received more than a half-dozen offers from Power Five schools between the beginning of February and the end of May.
Some schools that offered VanDorselaer, but missed the cut for his top nine, are the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Arkansas Razorbacks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma Sooners, and Auburn Tigers.
Texas was one of the early schools that stood out to VanDorselaer
During the spring, VanDorselaer mentioned that “Texas football is just a big deal” and that it is a “great school to go to”.
He also told Inside Texas this summer that his relationship with Banks is good.
"“He tells me what I can work on as a player and what he likes about my game. I’d like to go down sometime this summer. It’s only four hours away and pretty close. I definitely want to go see them again. The connection is great and hope to be back this summer.”"
Texas was one of the first schools that offered VanDorselaer. He received the offer from the Longhorns on June 12, 2022, during his first unofficial visit to Texas. Texas is also the first school that offered among his top group of nine.
