Barryn Sorrell, EDGE

Talking about impressive returning Longhorns starters along the defensive front, an edge rusher to watch out for is junior Barryn Sorrell. We’ve pinpointed Sorrell as a potential breakout candidate for the Longhorns heading into fall camp.

The process for Sorrell to truly shine in fall camp started during summer workouts. It was reported during the summer that Sorrell was “balling out” in the summer strength and conditioning program.

Sorrell got off to the start in fall camp that could get you to believe that he will be one of the best Longhorns players in practice.

The media wasn’t the only ones impressed by Sorrell’s performance during the first day of fall practice. Sark specifically mentioned Sorrell among the players that caught his attention on Aug. 2. Sark said he is “really physical” and a “good run defender that can create a pass rush one on one”, during the post-practice press conference.

Sorrell ran with the first-team defense, which comes as no surprise. He will be considered one of the defensive front leaders in fall camp, as he could be a candidate to lead the team in sacks during the 2023 season.
