Ok, seriously, is Texas really back this time?

Sportsbooks have been taking a ton of action on Texas this offseason in the lead up to what could be the most successful campaign for the Longhorns in more than a decade. Texas is the clear favorite to win the Big 12 this season and the number has shortened more and more as we get closer to kickoff.

Texas hasn’t won a Big 12 Championship since 2009, is this the year the Longhorns get over the hump?

2023 Big 12 Championship odds

Texas is nearing odds-on-favorite status heading into the 2023 season as the Big 12 is lacking the talent to match the Longhorns heading into the season.

While the team is replacing top 10 pick in running back Bijan Robinson, the team returns a ton of talent, including quarterback Quinn Ewers, the entire offensive line and a host of pass catchers like Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington.

However, there’s even more for head coach Steve Sarkisian to work with on offense, landing former Georgia wide receiver AD Mitchell in the transfer portal and an elite running back rotation of returning back Jonathon Brooks and five star freshman CJ Baxter.

With Oklahoma lacking pass catching weapons, Kansas State lacking the star power and TCU dealing with the hangover of an undefeated regular season in 2022, all things are setting up for Texas to emerge as the clear Big 12 favorite as the season gets underway.
