Texas Football: 3 top remaining recruiting targets in 2024 class
Ryan Wingo, WR
The final spot on this list came down to two priority recruits for the Longhorns in the 2024 class. The option that was nixed from the list was the elite Louisiana defensive lineman McKinley. But it was close between McKinley and five-star St. Louis University (MO) wide receiver Ryan Wingo.
Wingo gets the edge since Texas has yet to land an elite wideout in the 2024 class. And with Texas on the outside looking in right now for the No. 1 ranked wideout recruit in Texas in the 2024 class, Temple (TX) Lake Belton five-star Micah Hudson, Wingo has become a critical priority at the position for new WR coach Chris Jackson and the Longhorns.
Texas is locked in a dogfight on the recruiting trail with the big-in-state school, the Mizzou Tigers, in the race to land a commitment from Wingo. Mizzou has made a big push in this recruitment lately. Some buzz is coming from the Mizzou side that the Tigers could have the pole position among Wingo’s top schools heading into the fall.
For now, though, Texas and Mizzou appear to be the two schools at the top for Wingo. Inside Texas reports (paid content) that Wingo could decide in the next couple of weeks. Regardless, this is a recruitment that Texas will push through the finish line on signing day in mid-December.
Wingo is the top wide receiver priority for Jackson, Sark, and the Longhorns heading into the fall.
