Texas basketball got off to a nice start in the 2024 recruiting class this month by landing a commitment from the elite Lexington (SC) shooting guard Cam Scott. The high-four-star/five-star (depending on the recruiting service) two-guard/wing was head coach Rodney Terry’s first commitment in the 2024 class on Aug. 11.

This should be the first of a few commitments for Terry and the Longhorns staff in the 2024 class heading into the Early Signing Period in November. Since Texas only took two commitments from the high school ranks in the 2023 class, including high-four-star Montverde Academy combo guard Chris Johnson, the 2024 cycle will see Terry and this staff look to get more numbers into the program.

Two elite 2024 recruits looking to lock in official visits to Texas basketball this fall

The fall will be a busy time for official visits for men’s hoops on the Forty Acres. Texas will host at least a half-dozen blue-chip official visitors from the 2024 class this fall. And it looks like a few more priority recruits in the 2024 class Terry and the Longhorns are working to lock in official visits heading into the fall.

Two of the recruits working to lock in their Texas official visits this fall are some of the top priorities for this staff in the 2024 class. If these two recruits schedule their official visits to Texas soon, they will join five other 2024 prospects that will make the trip to the 40 this fall.

Some of the highlighting recruits in the 2024 class that already locked in Texas official visits this fall are five-star Montverde Academy power forward Asa Newell and high-four-star Montverde Academy point guard Curtis Givens.
