Another option for Flood and the Longhorns at offensive tackle in case something doesn’t work out with Baker is the 6-foot-6 and 280-pound Beaumont United (TX) offensive tackle, Weston Davis. Texas A&M landed Davis’ commitment in late June after his summer official visits.

Davis is a big body along the offensive line with a lot of physical upside. But he’s still adding the necessary mass to fill out his frame.

The pass protection and body-moving abilities Davis brings to the table at offensive tackle are solidified. He’s a talented run blocker and holds his own in pass protection, whether at guard or outside at tackle.

Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas reported (paid content) a possibility of Davis visiting Texas for a game this fall. If there is more buzz surrounding Texas in this recruitment in the coming weeks, it will become more realistic for the communication to heat up between Flood and Davis.

Davis wouldn’t realistically be on flip watch for the Longhorns until Texas offers and/or he visits the Forty Acres for a game at DKR this season. Getting Davis on campus would be the first logical step for Texas to try and chip away at his commitment to Texas A&M.
