IMG Academy vs. Philadelphia (PA) St. Joseph’s Prep

For the second time in as many weeks to open up the season, IMG Academy will face a tough out-of-state foe that ranks in the top 25 nationally. Last week, Gibson and the Ascenders downed Lipscomb Academy by a convincing 25-point margin.

IMG Academy will have another tough opponent this week when it faces the St. Joseph’s Prep Hawks on the road on Aug. 26, with the kickoff time set for 7 p.m. CT. The Ascenders come in with its one win on the season. This is the first game of the season for the Hawks.

Gibson ran all over Lipscomb Academy in IMG Academy’s win last week, to the tune of over 100 rushing yards and multiple rushing scores. His yards per carry was in the double-digits in last week’s season-opening win.

St. Joseph’s Prep comes in ranking No. 10 in the nation. Meanwhile, IMG Academy ranks No. 4 in the nation.

The Hawks bring a solid group up front against IMG Academy, highlighted by four-star 2025 defensive lineman Maxwell Roy and four-star 2025 linebacker Anthony Sacca.

It will be interesting to see if Johnson-Rubell is tested more this weekend than in IMG’s opener last week. St. Joseph’s Prep does have a more potent passing attack than Lipscomb Academy, so he should have more targets coming his way in coverage in Week 2.
