Texas Football vs. Alabama: ESPN College GameDay going to Tuscaloosa

For the second year in a row, ESPN College GameDay will be present for the matchup between Texas football and the Alabama Crimson Tide. ESPN College GameDay announced on social media on the morning of Sep. 2 that it will be in Tuscaloosa for the matchup between No. 11 Texas and No. 4 Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium for Week 2.

Last year, ESPN College GameDay was in Austin for the Week 2 showdown between the Longhorns and Crimson Tide at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

ESPN College GameDay announced their destination for Week 2 of the 2023 college football season while they were in Charlotte, NC, for the Week 1 matchup between the North Carolina Tar Heels and South Carolina Gamecocks.

ESPN College GameDay will be in Tuscaloosa for Texas football vs. Alabama in Week 2

Texas and Alabama will square off at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa under the lights on Sep. 9, with the kickoff time set for 6 p.m. CT. Texas-Alabama will be televised live on the ESPN flagship network.

Next weekend’s matchup between Texas and Alabama will be the first time these two teams meet on the gridiron in Tuscaloosa since the 1902 season. Texas holds the edge in the all-time series against Alabama, with a record of 7-2-1, including a win in Tuscaloosa when these two teams met more than a century ago.

But Alabama has won the last two meetings in this series, including a narrow one-point win in Austin last season.

ESPN College GameDay returns to Tuscaloosa for the first time since 2020

The last time ESPN College GameDay’s set was in Tuscaloosa for an Alabama game was in 2020. College GameDay was in Tuscaloosa twice during the 2020 season, most recently for the Iron Bowl on Nov. 28 and the top-three matchup between Alabama and Georgia on Oct. 17.

Texas opens its 2023 season in Week 1 in Austin on Sep. 2 against the Rice Owls. Alabama opens up its season against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Sep. 2 in Tuscaloosa.
