Terry Bussey, ATH

One of the top-rated 2024 recruits visiting Tuscaloosa for the Texas-Alabama game this weekend is the elite five-star Timpson (TX) athlete Terry Bussey. The longtime Texas A&M Aggies lean is making his official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. This is Bussey’s first visit to Alabama since the spring.

Bussey also made an official visit to Austin in late June. That was one of two times Bussey visited Texas during the offseason.

It is worth noting that Texas is working to get Bussey to Austin for a visit for the Sep. 16 matchup at home at DKR against the Wyoming Cowboys. Staying competitive or beating Alabama this weekend would further Bussey’s intrigue in Texas a few weeks before his commitment date (Sep. 28).

Solomon Williams, EDGE

Among the top remaining EDGE targets for the Longhorns in the 2024 class this fall is the talented four-star Tampa (FL) Carrollwood Day edge rusher Solomon Williams. Texas has one edge rusher committed to its 2024 class, the elite Duncanville five-star Colin Simmons.

After landing the top-priority edge rusher recruit in the 2024 class on Aug. 10, Simmons, Texas is turning its focus to the likes of Allen four-star Zina Umeozulu, Tulsa (OK) NOAH Homeschool four-star Danny Okoye, and Williams among its top targets remaining at the position this cycle. And with Texas trending to land Umeozulu’s commitment on Sep. 6 and Okoye emerging as an Oklahoma Sooners lean, Williams has a spotlight on him on the recruiting trail.

If Pete Kwiatkowski and the Longhorns want to take three edge rushers in the 2024 class, Williams could be one of the guys this staff pushes for at the position heading into signing day in mid-December.

Williams is considered an Alabama lean coming out of the summer visit season. He had a successful official visit to Tuscaloosa in mid-June. Alabama assistants Robert Gillespie and Coleman Hutzler have great relationships with Williams. They’ve prioritized his recruitment heading into the fall.

BamaOnLine confirmed on Sep. 4 that Williams is expected to be at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sep. 9 for the Texas-Alabama game this weekend.

Like Bussey, if Texas can pull off the upset of Alabama on Sep. 9, that could swing the momentum in the recruitment for Williams a few months ahead of signing day.
