The monumental win for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian this weekend against head coach Nick Saban and the No. 3, ranked Alabama Crimson Tide has implications beyond the field. Texas will feel the reverberations of this win over Alabama on the road on Sep. 9, by a score of 34-24, on the recruiting trail in multiple classes.

If Texas keeps the momentum rolling on the field this fall, the win over Alabama will do wonders for Sark and the Longhorns staff on the recruiting trail in the 2024 and 2025 classes. It also sets a huge foundation for top early targets in the 2026 class for the Longhorns.

Top Texas football recruits impressed by the 34-24 win over Alabama

An abundance of Texas targets and one key commit in the 2025 class visited Bryant-Denny Stadium and Tuscaloosa for the Longhorns’ win over the Tide on Sep. 9. Texas made a big impression on some of those visitors for Alabama this weekend.

Quite a few Texas commits were also busy at work during and after the game on social media, trying to recruit other top-priority prospects in the 2024 and 2025 classes to the Forty Acres.

Here’s a look at 10 key recruits for the Longhorns that were impressed by Texas’ 10-point win over Alabama in Week 2.

Colin Simmons, EDGE

Among the most active Texas commits on social media this weekend during and after the Longhorns’ win over the Tide on Saturday night was the elite five-star Duncanville edge rusher Colin Simmons. The No. 1 EDGE recruit in the nation in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking was busy on social media re-posting other top Texas commits and targets that were taking notice of what the Longhorns did against Bama.

Simmons was also seen repping the Burnt Orange while throwing up the Hook’em hand sign on Instagram following Texas’ win this weekend.

This is the type of win you need to get top recruits/commits in the 2024 class juiced up to play for the Burnt Orange upon the move to the SEC in 2024. Simmons has to be excited about what’s to come for this Texas defense heading into the SEC next year after this performance against Bama on the road.
