Kobe Black, CB

Texas’ clear-cut top priority at the cornerback position in the 2024 class this fall is the elite Waco (TX) Connally five-star Kobe Black. The No. 1 cornerback recruit in Texas in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking has long been considered a Longhorns lean since the spring.

Many expected Black to commit to the Longhorns before now. But Texas is still the favorite in the race to land a commitment from Black a few months from signing day in December.

Competing schools with the Longhorns on the recruiting trail continue to try to bite into Texas’ lead. But there aren’t any reasons we have to believe that momentum is changing with Black and the pecking order of his top schools anytime soon.

It only helps Texas’ case with Black that five-star Duncanville edge rusher commit Colin Simmons continues to recruit Black consistently.

On3 reported on Sep. 19 that Black will officially visit Baton Rouge this weekend to see the LSU Tigers host the SEC West foe Arkansas Razorbacks at Tiger Stadium. This comes after Black canceled an official visit to Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago.

LSU and the Texas A&M Aggies are still working to chip away at Texas’ lead in this recruitment this fall. But Black remains a heavy Texas lean from all the recent buzz surrounding this recruitment and what we’ve seen in recent reports.
