Sep. 22: Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) @ Ruston (LA)

Among the best starts to this high school football season for any 2024 Texas commit on the defensive side of the ball belongs to three-star Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) defensive lineman Melvin Hills. The 6-foot-3 and 275-pound Louisiana native defensive lineman has wrecked shop up front for Lafayette Christian Academy in the first few games of his senior season.

In three games played, Hills registered 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, four sacks, and one forced fumble. Hills’ efforts on defense helped lead the Knights to an undefeated 3-0 record to start the season. And it’s not like Lafayette Christian Academy had cakewalks in its three games to open the 2023 season.

Lafayette Christian Academy faced a top-20 team in Louisiana to open the season on Sep. 1 in Lafayette (LA) Acadiana and a top 40 team on Sep. 15 in New Orleans (LA) Jesuit.

Hills and the Knights kick off district play on Sep. 22 on the road against the 2-1 Ruston (LA) Bearcats. This is a matchup between two top-ranked teams in Louisiana High School football. Lafayette Christian Academy is Louisiana’s No. 3 ranked team, and Ruston ranks No. 6.

This is the biggest test Hills and the Knights have faced so far this season.
