Trey Owens, QB

Result: Cypress (TX) Cy-Fair-42, Stratford-21

Texas’ two quarterback commits had huge statistical performances this week. Lacey had his five passing touchdowns on just 11 passing attempts as Saraland (AL) stayed undefeated on the season.

The underrated three-star Texas commit and Cypress (TX) Cy-Fair quarterback Trey Owens was also huge for his squad in a convincing 42-21 win over the Houston (TX) Stratford Knights on Sep. 21. This was arguably Owens’ best performance of the season to date.

He accounted for every touchdown the Bobcats scored in their 42-point outburst against the Knights this week. Owens amassed nearly 400 total yards (over 350 passing), five passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and two interceptions.

Owens ran really hard on his one rushing score in this game, running over a Stratford defender to get into the end zone.

The 2024 Texas quarterback commit did have a couple of picks, one of which didn’t look like it was his fault. But those were the only two blemishes on an otherwise nearly spotless performance from Owens. It’s worth noting that he completed 33-of-40 passing attempts against Stratford.

Cy-Fair’s offense is hot in the last few weeks, scoring at least 40 points in each of their last three games. The impressive offensive output has led to three straight Cy-Fair wins, including in their first game in district play against Stratford this week.

Owens and the Bobcats look for their fourth straight win next week as they travel to Houston to face the 2-2 Jersey Village Falcons on the road on Sep. 28.
