No. 3 ranked Texas football and the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners will kick off the annual Red River Rivalry game at 11 a.m. CT on Oct. 7, it was announced on the morning of Sep. 25. An official release from the Texas Sports website confirmed the announcement of the 11 a.m. CT kickoff time between Texas and Oklahoma in Red River this year.

The 2023 Allstate Red River Rivalry will be broadcast live on ABC on Oct. 7. This will be the 119th matchup all-time in the series between Texas and Oklahoma. Texas holds the edge in the all-time series against Oklahoma with a record of 63-50-5.

The Longhorns won last year’s matchup in Red River, dominating Oklahoma by a score of 49-0. But the Sooners have won four of the last six matchups against Texas.

Both Oklahoma and Texas sit with undefeated 4-0 (1-0 Big 12) records four weeks into the season. Texas convincingly downed the Baylor Bears in its Big 12 opener on the road at McLane Stadium in Waco on Sep. 23 by a score of 38-6.

Oklahoma topped the Cincinnati Bearcats on the road in its Big 12 opener on Sep. 23, 20-6.

The 11 a.m. CT kickoff time has become a consistent scheduling for Red River in the last half-decade or so. Texas and Oklahoma have kicked off Red River at 11 a.m. CT six straight times. The last time Texas and Oklahoma didn’t have the 11 a.m. CT kickoff slate was in 2017, when the game began at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Texas and Oklahoma will square off at the traditional venue at the Cotton Bowl, at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas, TX.

Texas faces a difficult stretch of upcoming games in the next couple of weeks

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have a difficult matchup upcoming before Red River. Texas faces the only other ranked team in the Big 12 (outside of the Longhorns and Sooners) at home at DKR in Austin on Sep. 30 against head coach Lance Leipold and the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks.

Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma are the only ranked and undefeated teams left in the Big 12 after Week 4.

The Longhorns and Jayhawks will kickoff their matchup at DKR at 2:30 p.m. CT on Sep. 30.
