Kobe Black, CB

This fall, the top remaining priority among defensive recruits in the 2024 class is the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black. Texas has a great shot to add another five-star recruit to the 2024 class whenever Black announces his commitment.

Texas has remained the top school in the race to land a commitment from Black since the spring. The LSU Tigers and Texas A&M have tried to chip away at the Longhorns lead in this recruitment during the summer and fall.

But the Longhorns have held a steady lead with Black for a long time.

Black is scheduled to take an official visit to Texas A&M next weekend to see the Aggies face the No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide in College Station. Questions remain if Black will reschedule his visit to see LSU for a game this season. He canceled a visit to Baton Rouge that was initially scheduled for a few weeks ago.

But a report from Horns247 on Sep. 25 (paid content) indicates the status of the LSU visit getting rescheduled is in doubt. We also don’t have a concrete status on Black’s official visit to College Station on Oct. 7.

For now, all indicators point to Texas winning this recruitment. We’re just watching to see if and when Black announces a decision timeline before signing day in December.
