The other top skill position recruit from Mater Dei for the Longhorns in the 2025 class is California’s No. 1 wide receiver prospect in 2025 in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, high-four-star Marcus Harris. Wide receivers coach Chris Jackson has built a good relationship with Harris since the two first met during the elite 2025 Mater Dei receiver’s first visit to Austin during the summer in late July with some of his high school teammates.

Harris is one of the top out-of-state priorities at wide receiver for Sark, Jackson, and the Longhorns in the 2025 class.

Like Davison, Harris was seemingly impressed by Texas getting a commitment from their elite Mater Dei teammate, Baker, over the weekend. Harris quoted Baker’s commitment graphic tweet on Sep. 24 and tagged Baker and Davison saying “talk to me guys”.

Harris also re-posted Baker’s commitment graphic on Instagram on Sep. 24.

I’ll say the same thing for Harris that I did Davison; Baker’s commitment to Texas is another reason the top wideout recruit has to consider the Longhorns among his top schools.

Texas has many connections to Mater Dei in this recruitment. Harris has multiple talented teammates committed to, attending, or considering Texas, and the Longhorns’ WR coach is also a Mater Dei alum.

Texas sits in a great spot in this recruitment this fall. Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas reported last week (paid content) that Texas has “more buzz than ever” in the recruitments of Davison and Harris this fall.
