The top priority this fall among recruits on the offensive side of the ball for Texas football in the 2024 class is the elite five-star St. Louis University (MO) wide receiver, Ryan Wingo. The No. 2 wide receiver recruit in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite had a great visit to Texas for the win over the Wyoming Cowboys at DKR in Austin on Sep. 16.

Since that unofficial visit to Texas on Sep. 16, Texas has held momentum in this recruitment, despite Wingo taking a trip last weekend to see the Mizzou Tigers beat the Memphis Tigers in St. Louis.

Texas football priority 5-Star WR target Ryan Wingo reportedly won’t be taking OV to Colorado this weekend

This recruitment has come down to a battle between Texas and Mizzou to land Wingo’s commitment. The Colorado Buffaloes were the team trying to make a late push in the race to land a commitment from Wingo this fall.

Wingo was initially scheduled to officially visit Boulder this weekend to see Colorado host the No. 8 USC Trojans and Lincoln Riley on Sep. 30. But a report from Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports on Sep. 26 indicates Wingo won’t be taking that official visit to Boulder this weekend.

Wingo’s family reportedly told 247Sports that they plan to reschedule the official visit to Colorado. Head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffs’ coaching staff are looking to December, before the start of the Early Signing Period on Dec. 20, to get Wingo to Boulder for the rescheduled official visit.

Texas in a great spot for Wingo two weeks after the unofficial to Austin

It’s hard not to like where things stand for Texas with Wingo at the moment. All indications point to Texas holding the lead over Mizzou, Colorado, and the Tennessee Volunteers in this recruitment heading into October.

There is a possibility that Wingo makes a return trip to Texas for the Red River Rivalry game against the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas on Oct. 7. If Wingo makes that visit to Dallas for Red River next weekend, Texas will really have confidence in this recruitment a couple of months before signing day.
