Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian look to have another big visit weekend lined up for Week 5 when they host the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sep. 30. Texas already had over a half dozen blue-chip recruits visiting this weekend for the Kansas game before some huge news dropped on the recruiting trail on the morning of Sep. 27.

247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong reported on Sep. 27 that the elite five-star Duncanville wide receiver and LSU Tigers commit Dakorien Moore will make a return trip to Texas for the Kansas game on Sep. 30. Moore also visited Texas unofficially for the Longhorns’ last home game, on Sep. 16 in a win over the Wyoming Cowboys.

Moore gave the Texas visit on Sep. 16 high marks for the environment at DKR for that night game against Wyoming. He told Inside Texas in a piece on Sep. 19 (paid content) that the “fans definitely stood out” and that the environment was “crazy lit”.

Moore will have visited Texas for more gamedays this fall than LSU after he makes the trip for Week 5 vs. Kansas this weekend. He visited LSU unofficially on Sep. 9 to see the Tigers beat up on FCS Grambling State in Baton Rouge.

Texas not letting up on its pursuit of Moore

Despite Moore committing to LSU on Aug. 12, 2023, Texas has not let up in its pursuit of the No. 2 wide receiver recruit in the nation and the No. 1 in Texas in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite. Texas is essentially treating this as if Moore was an open recruitment this fall.

Moore is the top in-state priority among wide receiver recruits in the 2025 class for Sark and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson. He and Fulshear (TX) Katy Jordan five-star Andrew Marsh and Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei high-four-star Marcus Harris are arguably Texas’ top three wide receiver priority recruits in the 2025 class this fall.

5-Star EDGE commit Colin Simmons helping Texas recruit Moore

Another factor working in Texas’ favoring as Sark and Jackson look to chip away at Moore’s commitment to LSU this fall is five-star Duncanville edge rusher pledge Colin Simmons. Moore’s teammate and the No. 1 edge rusher recruit in the nation in the 2024 class is helping Texas recruit the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 class.

Simmons posted on social media on Sep. 27, responding to the news that Moore is visiting for the Kansas game this weekend. Moore and Simmons both visited Texas for the Wyoming game on Sep. 16. And there is a possibility that Simmons will make the return trip to Texas on Sep. 27 for the Kansas game.

This weekend will be Moore’s third trip to Austin since the summer. He also visited Texas unofficially for the Elite Camp in early June.
