Texas football opens as 5.5-point favorite over No. 12 Oklahoma
The week of the Red River Rivalry game has arrived, as No. 3 ranked Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian get set to square off against head coach Brent Venables and the No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners. Both Texas and Oklahoma come into Red River this year with undefeated 5-0 (2-0 Big 12) records.
It is the second consecutive ranked matchup for the Longhorns, who defeated the No. 24 ranked Kansas Jayhawks by a convincing score of 40-14 at home at DKR in Austin on Sep. 30. Oklahoma, meanwhile, is coming off an impressive 57-20 smacking of the Iowa State Cyclones at home in Norman in Week 5.
This is the final matchup between the Longhorns and Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game as Big 12 foes. But the rivalry will continue when Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC in 2024.
ESPN College GameDay will be in Dallas for Red River for the eighth time in this matchup next weekend. This season, it is the second time that ESPN College GameDay appeared for the Longhorns game. The first was in Week 2 in the Longhorns’ big road win over the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.
