DeAndre Carter, IOL
The other official visitor that was on campus last weekend for Texas’ win over Kansas was the highly touted four-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei interior offensive lineman and Auburn Tigers commit DeAndre Carter. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns did a nice job hosting Carter and his family for the official visit over the weekend.

Horns247 reported on Oct. 2 (paid content) that Texas gave Carter “something to think about” as he and his family mull the status of his recruitment in the next week or two. Carter reportedly liked the way the Texas offensive line has shown out this season, especially with an impressive performance in the win over Kansas in Week 5.
The decision for Carter to either stick with his commitment to Auburn or flip to Texas will reportedly come down to the relationships and development with the Longhorns vs. the opportunity for immediate playing time with the Tigers.
Jordon Johnson-Rubell, S (UT commit)
Among the most active and engaged 2024 Texas commits on social media, especially during game weekends this fall, is four-star Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell. Johnson-Rubell has continually done a nice job rallying the troops and helping Texas recruit other top-priority targets in the 2024 and 2025 classes this fall.

Following the double-digit win over Kansas last weekend, Johnson-Rubell said the game was “amazing”. He’s now focused on hopefully seeing Texas down the No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas on Oct. 7.
