Another former Texas transfer who has found success at his new school is redshirt senior TCU Horned Frogs tight end Jared Wiley. The 6-foot-7 and 255-pound fifth-year senior tight end Wiley transferred from Texas a couple of offseasons ago after the emergence of All-Big 12 TE Ja’Tavion Sanders.

Wiley became a contributor for head coach Sonny Dykes and the Horned Frogs on offense immediately after transferring from Texas in 2022. He caught two-dozen passes for nearly 250 receiving yards and four touchdowns for a TCU squad that made it to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last season.

Wiley is off to another productive start for the Frogs this season. In a half-dozen games played, Wiley has 17 catches for 147 receiving yards and three touchdown catches. He had his best game of the season thus far with a two-touchdown performance in TCU’s Sep. 23 win over the SMU Mustangs at home at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.

While Wiley is having another productive campaign for TCU’s offense, the Frogs have fallen short of expectations in the first half of the regular season. After getting upset on the road last week by the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, TCU fell to 3-3 (1-2 Big 12) this season.

To make matters worse, TCU’s starting quarterback, Chandler Morris, is reportedly (per ESPN) expected to miss multiple weeks due to a lower-body injury he suffered last week against Iowa State.

Wiley will be a reliable and proven target for redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Hoover to look to as an outlet in his first career start in Morris’s absence as TCU hosts the BYU Cougars at home on Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. CT.
