Texas football back in contact with 4-Star Auburn DL commit TJ Lindsey

Texas football continues to find potential flip candidates on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class this fall. A couple of months before the Early Signing Period in mid-December, Texas has found another flip candidate on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class that is worth watching.

Horns247 reported on Oct. 23 (paid content) that the Longhorns are courting four-star Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy defensive lineman and Auburn Tigers commit TJ Lindsey again this fall. Texas was in the mix among the top schools in the race to land a commitment from Lindsay during the summer before his pledge to Auburn in mid-August.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian was the one to “reengage” with Lindsey last week.

The Longhorns reportedly finished second in the race to land Lindsey’s commitment late this summer. That’s big news for the Longhorns since there was previously a lot of interest between Lindsey and Texas’ staff.

Texas reportedly has the “best shot” to flip Lindsey this fall if this staff pushes the right buttons in this recruitment in the next couple of months.

Lindsey could possibly visit Texas this weekend at DKR vs. BYU

It sounds like there is a possibility Lindsey will visit Texas very soon. Lindsey is a “maybe” to visit the Longhorns for their game at DKR in Austin this weekend against the BYU Cougars.

IMG Academy has a bye this week, so this would be the best time for Lindsey to visit Texas if he does at any point for a gameday this fall.

Texas and others pushing to flip Lindsey from Auburn this fall

Texas isn’t the only school working to chip away at Lindsey’s commitment to Auburn this fall. According to On3, the Miami Hurricanes are also pursuing Lindsey on the recruiting trail a couple of months before signing day.

Texas working to flip multiple Auburn commits in the 2024 class

Lindsey and four-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter are two Auburn commits of interest to the Longhorns in the 2024 class this fall. Texas hosted Carter for an official visit on Sep. 30 for the Week 5 win over the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks at DKR.

We expect to hear more soon regarding the results of Texas’ efforts to flip Carter’s commitment from Auburn.
