Texas Football: 3 key recruits impressed by Ryan Wingo’s pledge to UT
KJ Lacey, QB (UT commit)
Another important Texas commit impressed by Wingo’s commitment to the Longhorns this week was the highly touted four-star 2025 Saraland (AL) quarterback KJ Lacey. The lone commitment in the Longhorns 2025 class reacted to the graphic for Wingo’s commitment to Texas on his IG story on Oct. 25, throwing the horns up in the post.
Having the caliber of quarterback talent committed and on campus that Sark, QB coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns do as they head into the SEC in 2024 is a huge part of Texas’ success with wide receiver recruiting of late. It is a big deal for Wingo that he’ll get to play with talented quarterbacks like Lacey and true freshman Arch Manning at Texas.
Lacey remains locked in with his commitment to Texas in the 2025 class this fall. He has taken unofficial visits to Auburn and Alabama on a couple of gamedays this fall, but it was always expected that the in-state schools for Lacey would continue to recruit him after he committed to Texas in the summer.
This weekend, Lacey will take his first gameday visit to Texas for the BYU game since he committed to the Longhorns on June 3, 2023. There is a possibility that Lacey brings his Saraland teammate to visit Texas for the BYU game, the No. 1 wide receiver recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, five-star Ryan Williams.
