The injury bug has bitten No. 7 Texas football in the last few games. Since the Week 5 win over the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks at home, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have lost nearly a dozen key contributors on the two-deep to various injuries.

The unfortunate string of injury issues continued for the Longhorns last weekend in its narrow 31-24 win on the road over the Houston Cougars. Texas lost multiple starters on both sides of the ball in the win over Houston to injuries.

Texas should have many of the players who went down with injuries in the last few games back against BYU on Oct. 28, at 2:30 p.m. CT. BYU is also dealing with some injuries to key contributors on each side of the ball.

Here’s a look at the full injury report for No. 7 Texas vs. BYU at DKR in Week 9.

Texas football injury report vs. BYU

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers is obviously the most notable injury the Longhorns are dealing with at the moment. Ewers suffered a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder in the win over Houston in Week 8. Ewers’ status with the shoulder injury is “week-to-week”.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Maalik Murphy will get the start against BYU on Oct. 28 with Ewers dealing with the shoulder injury.

In his Thursday press conference on Oct. 26, Sark said Texas will likely have multiple key players back on both sides of the ball from injury against BYU. Texas defense will likely get senior defensive lineman Alfred Collins, redshirt junior boundary corner Ryan Watts, redshirt junior corner Gavin Holmes, and senior outside linebacker Jett Bush back on defense this weekend.

Sark said Texas will likely get sophomore interior offensive lineman Cole Hutson back from injury this weekend in the trenches vs. BYU.

Horns247 also confirmed that sophomore cornerback Terrance Brooks is expected to be available against BYU.

BYU will likely be down a key interior defensive lineman against Texas, senior John Nelson. Defensive coordinator Jay Hill told the media this week that it “doesn’t look like” BYU will have Nelson available due to an injury this weekend.

Wide receiver Keanu Hill is also questionable for the Texas game due to an injury. Hill is fifth in receiving yards for the Cougars this season.
