Xavier Filsaime, S (Florida commit)

Among the highest-rated flip targets for the Longhorns in the 2024 class this fall is the elite five-star McKinney safety, and Florida Gators commit Xavier Filsaime. The No. 2 safety recruit in the nation in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite is a big-time talent at a position of need for the Longhorns in this cycle.

Texas was late to offer Filsaime, which he received on Oct. 9, 2023. Despite Filsaime being one of the best safety prospects in the state in the 2024 class, Texas waited until roughly six months after he committed to Florida to offer him.

Nonetheless, Filsaime is still in regular communication with safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns this fall. Texas is working to get him to campus for a visit for one of the two remaining home games at DKR during the regular season.

It doesn’t seem too likely that the Longhorns can get Filsaime to Austin for a visit this weekend, as he’s slated to take an unofficial trip to see head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans host the No. 5 Washington Huskies in a big-time matchup in the PAC-12 on Nov. 4.

But the Longhorns can target the Nov. 24 regular season finale at home on Black Friday against Texas Tech to get Filsaime to Austin for a gameday visit this fall.

Texas has a difficult task ahead to flip Filsaime’s commitment from Florida. Still, the staff isn’t going to throw in the towel in this recruitment until the elite safety prospect from DFW signs to Florida in December during the Early Signing Period.
