Heading into Week 11, No. 7 Texas football continues to get healthier during the stretch run of the regular season schedule. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian got some key players back from injury in the last two weeks, namely on the defensive side of the ball.

A key player that returned from an injury on defense for the Longhorns in the win over the No. 23 Kansas State Wildcats at home last weekend was sophomore edge rusher Ethan Burke. Burke made an immediate impact with some huge plays for the Texas defense in his return from injury last weekend against Kansas State, including a team-high two sacks and a forced fumble.

The most important storyline regarding injuries this week for the Longhorns is the status of redshirt sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers. As the Longhorns prepare to face the TCU Horned Frogs and head coach Sonny Dykes on the road in Fort Worth in primetime this weekend, the Longhorns are hoping for good news regarding Ewers’ injury status after he suffered a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder in Week 8 against the Houston Cougars.

Notable injury updates for Texas football heading into Week 11 vs. TCU

During his Monday press conference on Nov. 6, Sark updated the status of a few key injured Longhorns players heading into Week 11 vs. TCU. Here are the latest updates for four key Longhorns players dealing with injuries this week.

Kitan Crawford, S

Due to an undisclosed injury, senior safety Kitan Crawford missed the game against Kansas State at home. Crawford was one of two Texas safeties who missed the Kansas State game due to injury, along with senior Jalen Catalon.

Before missing the Kansas State game last weekend, Crawford started three of the last four contests for the Longhorns at safety. He’s been a staple in the safety rotation this season for Blake Gideon, Pete Kwiatkowski, and the Longhorns. Crawford has taken a career-high 230 defensive snaps at safety this season for Texas.

Texas rotated true freshman Derek Williams Jr., redshirt sophomore Michael Taaffe, and senior Jerrin Thompson at safety with Catalon and Crawford out.

Sark provided good news in the latest injury update for Crawford in his press conference earlier this week. Sark said Crawford, Catalon, senior offensive tackle Christian Jones, and sophomore offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., all practiced on Nov. 6.
