Before the news of Fisher being let go by the Aggies on Nov. 12, four-star Converse (TX) Judson safety Myles Davis was already considering taking a visit to Texas for the regular season finale on Nov. 24 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph have great relationships with Davis.

Davis liked what he saw from Texas as he visited Austin multiple times during the offseason, including a mid-June official trip. At one point early in the summer, Texas was seemingly generating the most buzz compared to the Aggies in this recruitment.

Moreover, there has been communication between the Texas staff and Davis since he committed to the Aggies over the Longhorns and USC Trojans in mid-July.

What happens in this recruitment in the coming weeks before signing day comes down to Davis actually making it to campus for the Texas Tech game on Black Friday and Texas’ other pursuits at defensive back on the trail in the 2024 class. Texas still has one or two DB spots open in the 2024 class before signing day, and they definitely need another safety.

Texas is also pursuing five-star Florida Gators commit and McKinney safety Xavier Filsaime, four-star Clemson Tigers DB commit Corian Gipson, and four-star Florida cornerback commit Wardell Mack as flip targets in the secondary this fall.
