Among the highest-priority guard/wing targets for Terry and the Longhorns staff in the 2025 class early on is the highly touted four-star Austin (TX) Lake Travis shooting guard Hudson Greer. The 6-foot-6 and 180-pound two-guard from right in Texas’ backyard in Austin is someone the Longhorns have been high on for a while on the recruiting trail.

Texas was one of the first major conference schools that offered Greer in the fall of 2022. He also took an unofficial visit to Texas last fall.

Something the Longhorns have had to overcome in this recruitment, though, is the departure of former Texas head coach Chris Beard. Beard was one of Greer’s primary recruiters from Texas. Losing him set the Longhorns back a bit among the top schools in Greer’s recruitment last winter.

But Terry and the Longhorns have made up ground in the time since he took over as the interim head coach last season. Texas is among the top group of schools in the race to land a commitment from Greer.

247Sports reported this week (paid content) that Greer “plans to make a commitment next summer”, so Texas still has a lot of time to make a move in this recruitment.

Greer is one of the fast risers in the 2025 class among guards/wings in the last six or eight months. He’s a rapidly improving wing with great length, tremendous athleticism, and versatility on offense.

Greer will take an official visit to see the Creighton Blue Jays starting Dec. 8. He also took an official visit to Iowa City to see the Iowa Hawkeyes in mid-September.
