Texas Basketball: Predicting Longhorns’ next commit after Tre Johnson
Koa Peat, PF
Texas’ top out-of-state priority at power forward in the 2025 class is also the No. 2 power forward recruit in the nation in that cycle in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, Gilbert (AZ) Perry five-star Koa Peat. Texas was one of the first schools that offered Peat way back in the spring of 2021.
Since then, he’s received offers from all the top college hoops programs around the country, including the North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, Michigan Wolverines, Kansas Jayhawks, Michigan State Spartans, and Kentucky Wildcats, among many others.
"“My relationship with the coaches is genuine. They all are cool. They were engaged with the players during their practices. They went hard. Coach Terry is a good coach.”"
Peat officially visited Texas in late September. He said after the official visit that he had a great experience on the Forty Acres and has a great relationship with Terry and the staff.
A factor in this recruitment that helps the Longhorns is the fact that Peat reportedly works out with former Texas forward Timmy Allen when he is back in Arizona.
Some of Peat’s other top schools in his recruitment this fall are Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, and UNC. He’s also taken official visits to UNC this month and Michigan in early September.
