The last true road test of the season for No. 7 Texas football is the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Nov. 18. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian can secure their spot in the Big 12 Championship Game this weekend with a win under the lights in primetime in Ames over head coach Matt Campbell and Iowa State.

Texas (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) is about a one-score favorite against Iowa State just a few hours ahead of kickoff in Ames on Nov. 18. The Longhorns come into this matchup having won four straight contests, including a narrow 29-26 win over the TCU Horned Frogs on the road in Fort Worth on Nov. 11.

No. 7 Texas football can reach double-digit in the regular season for the first time since 2009 vs. Iowa State

Three of those four wins during the Longhorns streak have not come easy. Texas saw 20+ point third-quarter leads dwindle to one score or less in wins over the Houston Cougars, Kansas State Wildcats, and TCU during this streak.

Iowa State (6-4, 5-2 Big 12) has also found a lot of success in the win column lately. Campbell and the Cyclones have won four of their last five games, including a dominating 45-13 victory on the road in Provo last weekend against the BYU Cougars.

If Texas wins this game and gets some help from the likes of Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and/or Oklahoma losing games on Nov. 18, it will secure a spot in the Big 12 title game. A win over Iowa State would also keep Texas in the thick of the College Football Playoff conversation heading into late November.

According to the ESPN matchup predictor, Texas has a 78.5 percent chance of beating Iowa State in Week 12.

The advanced stats preview from Parker Fleming of CFB Graphs/Statsowar gives Texas a 75.7 percent chance of beating Iowa State and predicts the final score to be 28-19.
