This afternoon, the Texas women’s basketball team took on a very talented Louisana Tech team. It was a battle between two excellent, undefeated teams. Senior Forward Taylor Jones led the team with 25 points in a dominating 96-44 win over the Lady Techsters. They distributed the ball well this afternoon, as they did against Southern University earlier this season

The Longhorns dominated them from the opening tip-off, leading  54-19 at halftime. Head Basketball Coach Vic Schaefer and his coaching staff definitely had the women ready for this matchup. Here are some key players who helped the Longhorns to a huge victory this afternoon.

Texas Women’s Basketball Key Players: Taylor Jones

Jones was the leading scorer against Louisana Tech. She shot 12-16 for 25 points and eight rebounds this afternoon. It seems like Louisana Tech didn’t have an answer for her in the paint. She will probably be a big asset to the team once the Longhorns get into Big 12 Conference play. Jones will have another tough test for her coming up when the Longhorns take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Texas Women’s Basketball Key Players: Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda

Mwenentanda was a key player off the bench for the Longhorns this afternoon. She finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists. With the way she’s playing this season, she’s forcing Vic Schaefer to give her more minutes each game. Whenever Junior Guard Rori Harmon needs a break, Mwenentanda is the player who subs in to give her a break. She is going to be a key player to watch as the season moves along.

Texas Women’s Basketball Key Players: Upcoming Games

The Texas Longhorns Women’s Basketball team will be back in action on Nov. 23 against the Sun Devils in the Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They will then take on High Point University on Nov. 24 and South Florida the following day.

It will be interesting to see how the team will play basketball three straight days in a row. I know Schaefer and his coaching staff will have the team ready to compete each day. These three games will get the team ready for their big matchup against Connecticut. Enjoy your Thanksgiving, and get ready for some holiday hoops action later this week.
