Senior center Jake Majors is having the best season of his collegiate career for Texas along the interior offensive line this fall. He’s performing at an All-Big 12 level while ranking in the top two among starting centers in the conference in pass-blocking efficiency and offensive grade.

Majors is the most pleasant surprise for the Longhorns along the offensive line this season. His leadership is crucial to this group’s communication and cohesion up front this fall.

It would be huge for the Longhorns to get Majors back for another season in 2024. Texas is already expected to have three returning starters along the offensive line in 2024, including sophomore left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., junior left guard Hayden Conner, and sophomore right guard DJ Campbell.

Texas is also expected to get potential starters in 2024 back in sophomore interior offensive lineman Cole Hutson and sophomore offensive tackle Cam Williams.

It would also be good for the Longhorns to get Majors back for another year to get incoming freshman and four-star North Richland Hills (TX) Richland interior offensive line Daniel Cruz an additional year of development. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns have their center of the future in the SEC in the 2024 class with Cruz. But he might not be ready for that level of competition in the SEC from Day 1 after arriving on campus.

What Texas could do on offense in the first year in the SEC with four potential returning starters on the O-Line and Ewers back at quarterback is special. Texas is also likely to get redshirt sophomore running back Jonathon Brooks back for another season after he suffered a season-ending ACL tear last week, so the offense looks really dangerous in 2024.
