Texas football (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) and the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-5, 5-3 Big 12) will meet as Big 12 foes at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin for the final time on Black Friday. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are looking to send head coach Joey McGuire and Texas Tech out of DKR with a loss in the final Big 12 regular season game for the men in Burnt Orange.

Neither team will lack motivation entering the regular season finale at DKR on Black Friday. Texas Tech wants to send Texas to the SEC with a loss in the Longhorns’ final Big 12 regular season game.

The Longhorns, meanwhile, need a win over Texas Tech to lock up a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game and to remain in the conversation for the College Football Playoff. Texas is also looking to avenge its overtime loss against the Red Raiders last season.

That’s not to mention the fact that Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark is supposed to be attending the Texas-Texas Tech game at DKR on Black Friday. Yormark added fuel to the fire for this game when he told the Texas Tech faithful at a Red Raider luncheon a few months ago that they “better take care of business” in Austin this fall.

Entering this game, the Longhorns have a much shorter injury report than the Red Raiders. Texas Tech has suffered some notable injuries to key starters on both sides of the ball in the last few weeks.

Here’s a look at the full injury report as No. 7 Texas hosts Texas Tech at DKR in Austin on Nov. 24, with the kickoff time set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Jalen Catalon, S (Questionable)

Jonathon Brooks, RB (Out)

Xavier Worthy, WR (Probable)

DJ Campbell, IOL (Probable)

While Texas is pretty much as healthy as you could hope for this late in the season, there are still some important starters that were banged up in last week’s win in Ames over the Iowa State Cyclones.

The most notable injury Texas dealt with in the win over Iowa State was to junior wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the second half. Worthy was sidelined in the fourth quarter after suffering a lower-body injury. He was seen in street clothes on the sideline in the fourth quarter.

In Worthy’s absence in the fourth quarter against Iowa State, Sark and the Longhorns utilized more two tight end sets. True freshman wide receiver Johntay Cook II also got a handful of offensive snaps late in the game at field receiver.

Worthy is expected to be available for the Longhorns against Texas Tech.

Another significant starter for Texas on the offensive side of the ball that was knocked out of the Iowa State game last weekend due to an injury was sophomore right guard DJ Campbell. The former five-star recruit suffered an apparent lower-body injury in the first half against Iowa State.

Fellow sophomore interior offensive lineman Cole Hutson took the reps at right guard after Campbell exited the game due to injury. Hutson did well in pass pro, as he didn’t allow a single quarterback pressure against Iowa State.

Campbell is also expected to be available for the Longhorns on Black Friday against Texas Tech.

The last offensive player that is listed on the injury report this week for the Longhorns is redshirt sophomore running back Jonathon Brooks. Brooks suffered a season-ending ACL tear a couple of weeks ago.

True freshman running back CJ Baxter Jr. has taken the starting reps out of the backfield in Brooks’ absence in the Iowa State game. Baxter had his first career 100-rushing yard game in the win over the Cyclones last weekend.

On the defensive side of the ball, Texas suffered a few stingers last week. But the only player that ultimately suffered a game-ending injury was senior safety Jalen Catalon. The former Arkansas transfer re-aggravated a shoulder injury in the first half against Iowa State after taking just six defensive snaps.

Catalon’s status is uncertain heading into the Texas Tech game. Catalon had missed the last four games before Iowa State after suffering a leg injury in the Red River Rivalry game on Oct. 7 against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Texas utilized a three-man rotation at safety, featuring senior Jerrin Thompson, true freshman Derek Williams Jr., and redshirt sophomore Michael Taaffe after Catalon suffered the upper-body injury in the first half.

Blake Burris, DL (Doubtful)

Myles Price, WR (Probable)

Steve Linton, LB (Questionable)

Tyler Owens, DB (Questionable)

Charles Robinson, TE (Out)

Wesley Smith, LB (Out)

Isaac Smith, LB (Out)

Jaylon Hutchings, DL (Probable)

Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S (Probable)

Bryce Ramirez, LB (Probable)

In his press conference this week, McGuire mentioned multiple players he expects to be active for the Texas game on Black Friday. McGuire mentioned wide receiver Myles Price, defensive back Tyler Owens, linebacker Bryce Ramirez, defensive tackle Jaylon Hutchings, and safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson among the players he expects to play vs. Texas this week.

It was also noted that Taylor-Demerson is the biggest question mark regarding his availability for the Texas game when McGuire updated injury statuses this week.

Taylor-Demerson suffered an injury last week in Texas Tech’s win over the UCF Knights that knocked him out in the second half. Hutchings also suffered an injury early in the UCF game that sidelined him.

Texas Tech is also hoping to get two significant starters back on defense this week, Owens and Linton. Owens was knocked out of the Kansas game two weeks ago with an upper-body injury. He didn’t play last week against UCF, either.

Linton suffered a back injury that caused him to miss the last month for the Red Raiders.

Price is the only starter for Texas Tech on offense who is listed among the injured players for the Texas game. The senior slot receiver missed Texas Tech’s last game against UCF due to an injury.

It’s also noteworthy that Texas Tech’s starting quarterback entering the season, senior Tyler Shough, suffered an injury earlier this year, and he has since entered the transfer portal. Behren Morton has taken over as Texas Tech’s full-time starter at quarterback, with Shough in the portal.
