Kelshaun Johnson, WR

Among the top 2025 visiting recruits for the Longhorns for the Texas Tech game on Black Friday was the highly touted four-star Houston (TX) Hitchcock wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson. The speedy 5-foot-11 and 160-pound wideout recruit is one of Texas’ top in-state targets at the position in the 2025 class.

The early returns from Johnson’s unofficial visit to Texas for the Texas Tech game this week are positive. 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong reported on Nov. 25 (paid content) that Johnson had a “great experience” during his visit for the Texas Tech game.

Johnson said the “environment and atmosphere was crazy” and that he thinks Texas “will win the Big 12”. He also sees Texas being one of the “final four” teams to make the College Football Playoff this season.

Ryan Wingo, WR (UT commit)

The highest-rated Texas commit that made it to campus for the Texas Tech game this week was the elite five-star St. Louis University (MO) wide receiver Ryan Wingo. The No. 2 wide receiver recruit in the nation and No. 5 overall prospect in the 2024 class in the Top247 made his first return visit to DKR in Austin since he unofficially visited for the win over the No. 23 Kansas State Wildcats in early November.

Wingo looked fully locked in with Texas with how active he was on social media and how excited he was with his postgame reaction and comments following the 50-point win over Texas Tech. He was impressed by the offensive output and said the visit to DKR was a “fun experience again winning by 50”.
