Junior wide receiver Xavier Worthy fought through some pretty severe looking pain in Texas’ win over Texas Tech on Black Friday. Worthy was seen limping off the field multiple times against Texas Tech. He was taken to the locker room right before halftime without being able to put much weight on his ankle.

But Worthy fought through the pain in the second half and was still returning kicks for the Longhorns in the final 20 minutes of the game. Worthy caught four passes for 49 receiving yards and one touchdown against Texas Tech. And he returned three punts for 48 yards (16.0 yards per punt return),

Worthy originally suffered the lower-body injury in Texas’ win against TCU in Fort Worth in Week 11, which caused him to miss the entire fourth quarter.

Despite the apparent injury Worthy was dealing with against Texas Tech, Sark said he is “good to go” for the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma State this weekend.

Worthy starting at field receiver for Texas is obviously important to open up the offense through the air against Oklahoma State. The Pokes must devote extra resources to shade Worthy in pass coverage when redshirt sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers is connecting with him in the passing game.
