Texas’s offense shows efficiency in the red zone

Among the biggest flaws of the Texas offense this season is the red zone efficiency. Sark and the Longhorns have struggled to punch the ball in the end zone once they get in the red area.

Texas entered the Big 12 Championship Game with the second-worst touchdown percentage in the red zone (42.1 percent) in conference play and in the bottom five in red zone scoring percentage (73.1 percent).

Texas’s previous struggles converting in the red zone on offense seemingly faded away in the Big 12 Championship Game. In the first half, Texas was a perfect 4-of-4 scoring touchdowns on offensive possessions that got into the red zone.

The Longhorns also got some big plays that resulted in touchdowns of over 20 yards. A nice trick play that Sark drew up for Texas’s second touchdown of the game from Ewers to Sanders

Outside of garbage time, Texas was a perfect 5-of-5 in their red zone trips. It is the first time this season that the Longhorns are perfect converting red zone possessions into touchpoints with over three trips to the red area.
