The 2024 College Football Playoff field was decided by the selection committee on selection Sunday (Dec. 3). The four teams that the selection committee picked to be in the College Football Playoff this year are the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines, No. 2 Washington Huskies, No. 3 Texas Longhorns, and No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.

This was maybe the most anticipated College Football Playoff selection show since the inaugural Playoff nearly a decade ago (in the 2014 season). That’s because there were more than four teams deserving of a spot in the four-team College Football Playoff field.

For the first time since the inception of the Playoff in 2014, we had an undefeated Power Five conference champion left out of the four-team field. The Florida State Seminoles were the first team left out of the field despite winning the ACC Championship and boasting a spotless 13-0 record.

Florida State was left out of the Playoff largely due to its offensive struggles in the last couple of games after the season-ending injury to star senior quarterback Jordan Travis.

There was also an argument for the Georgia Bulldogs to get into the Playoff, as head coach Kirby Smart’s squad had won back-to-back National Championships and boasted a 29-game winning streak before falling short of Alabama by a field goal in the SEC title game.

Here is the College Football Playoff schedule, locations, and TV/streaming information after the four-team field was announced on Dec. 3.
