The Texas Longhorns faithful are eagerly awaiting the results from the College Football Playoff Selection Show on Dec. 3. The fate of Texas’s postseason is now in the hands of the selection committee after the Longhorns dominated the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowboys by a score of 49-21 in the Big 12 Championship Game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, on Dec. 2.

This will not be an easy decision for the College Football Playoff selection committee to pick the four teams in the field this year. There are five or six teams that are worthy contenders for the College Football Playoff.

Here are the teams in contention for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

  • Michigan (13-0), Big Ten Champion
  • Washington (13-0), PAC-12 Champion
  • Florida State (13-0), ACC Champion
  • Texas (12-1), Big 12 Champion
  • Alabama (12-1), SEC Champion
  • Georgia (12-1), SEC runner-up

While the Georgia Bulldogs technically have a chance at getting selected by the committee in the four-team field for the Playoff, they have the worst shot among the six abovementioned teams.

The real conundrum is the debate between which three teams deserve to be in between Florida State, Alabama, and Texas. Never before has an undefeated Power Five conference champion been left out of the four-team Playoff. Thus, leaving Florida State out would set a new precedent this fall.
