Texas football has already accomplished so many of its goals for this season after beating the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowboys to win the Big 12 Championship Game and reaching double-digit wins during the regular season.

But Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are still far from done this season after getting a spot in the College Football Playoff and winning the Big 12 title. Texas (12-1, 8-1 Big 12) is now two wins away from winning a National Championship one year before leaving for the SEC in the 2024 season.

No. 3 Texas football continues to get positive attention on the recruiting trail after getting in the College Football Playoff

No. 3 Texas will face the No. 2 Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, LA, on Jan. 1. The other College Football Playoff semifinal game will be the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, between the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines and No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Texas making the Playoff in just Sark’s third year as the head coach is a major accomplishment. The trajectory of this program is definitely being noticed on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns in the current and future classes. Especially with Texas headed to the SEC in 2024, recruits are buying into what Sarkisian is building on the 40.

Here are 10 key recruits who were impressed by Texas making the College Football Playoff this season.

D’antre Robinson, DL (UT commit)

One of the blue-chip defensive line commits for the Longhorns in the 2024 class, four-star Orlando (FL) Jones product D’antre Robinson, was paying attention while Texas convincingly defeated Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game this weekend. He also felt that Texas was very deserving of getting in the Playoff after the convincing win over Oklahoma State on Dec. 2

He also told Inside Texas that the Longhorns were deserving of getting in the four-team Playoff field after it “beat the team that beat the No. 1 team” in college football.

Robinson remains locked in with his commitment to Texas, despite the Florida Gators trying to chip away at his pledge this fall, just a few weeks before signing day.

Melvin Hills, DL (UT commit)

Another 2024 Texas defensive line commit who was tuned in for the Longhorns’ win in the Big 12 Championship Game and on selection Sunday is Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) three-star Melvin Hills.

Hills tweeted after Texas was selected for the Playoff on Dec. 3 a Horns up hand sign emoji with the message “all gas no brakes”. He also said he is “happy for the team and excited” for the program.
