With the NCAA Transfer Portal December window opening for underclassmen to test the waters on the transfer market earlier this week (specifically on Dec. 4), Texas football has sent out a handful of offers to top targets at various positions of need. Texas has already identified a handful of top targets in the transfer portal this cycle, including a few visitors who will be on campus in the next week or so.

The specific positions of need head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are looking to address in the transfer portal heading into the offseason are safety, defensive tackle, edge rusher, tight end, and wide receiver. Texas would also take a look at linebacker and cornerback if the right player surfaces in the portal.

Top-priority transfer targets visiting Texas football in the coming days

Regarding portal losses, the Longhorns will have some additional spots to fill on the roster in 2024. Texas has lost a half dozen players to the portal this week, including senior safety Jalen Catalon and redshirt sophomore wide receiver Casey Cain.

The immediate focus for the Longhorns in portal recruiting heading into the weekend will be the visits this staff is scheduling for the next week.

While Texas is still preparing for the College Football Playoff semifinal game at the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 against the No. 2 Washington Huskies, the staff is also diligent with their transfer portal scouting before signing day on Dec. 20.

Here are two portal targets for the Longhorns who have visits set up for the next week.
