Texas Football: 5-Star WR target Ryan Williams working on UT official visit
The uber-talented flip target for Texas football and teammate of four-star 2025 quarterback commit KJ Lacey at Saraland (AL) High School, five-star wide receiver/Alabama Crimson Tide commit Ryan Williams reclassified from 2025 to 2024 early this week. Andrew Ivins of 247Sports reported on Dec. 11 that Williams reclassified from 2025 to the 2024 recruiting class.
Williams was the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver recruit in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking before reclassifying to 2024 early this week. He still keeps his five-star status and .98 rating in the 247Sports Composite after reclassifying to 2024.
Williams now ranks as the No. 4 wide receiver recruit in the nation and the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite.
5-Star Alabama WR commit and Texas football target Ryan Williams reclassifies to 2024
It’s noteworthy that Williams reclassifying to 2024 makes the elite five-star Duncanville wide receiver and LSU Tigers commit Dakorien Moore the top-ranked wideout in the nation in the 2025 class. Moore is a top in-state priority at wide receiver for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns in the 2025 class.
Williams is planning to take his five official visits and sign in February
While Williams remains committed to Alabama after reclassifying, he is reportedly planning on taking all five official visits between December and the late signing period in February.
The five schools he is looking to officially visit before the late signing day in February are the Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Alabama, and Texas. There are no confirmed dates yet for Williams to take his five official visits, though.
Texas could soon get its swing at Williams during an official visit to Austin
While Williams has remained firm on his commitment to Alabama this fall, he’s shown up on other campuses in the last few months. He’s visited multiple schools since the summer, including LSU, USC, Auburn, and Georgia.
If Texas does get an official visit date locked in with Williams before signing day in a couple of months, it would be the first time he’s made the trip from Saraland to Austin since he committed to Alabama last fall.
Texas has connections in this recruitment
It is a long shot for Texas to be able to flip Williams’ commitment before the late signing day in February 2024. But all Texas can ask for is a chance to host Williams for an official visit to Austin and give him the pitch to play in Sark’s offense.
Texas also has the angle in this recruitment of Williams getting the chance to play with his Saraland teammate, Lacey. The top-10 ranked quarterback recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite has been committed to Texas since the summer.
