3 big overreactions after Texas's gritty win over Texas A&M
Quintrevion Wisner is the most valuable RB in the SEC
Speaking of a strong ground game for the Longhorns, sophomore running back Quintrevion Wisner was a beast for Texas's rushing attack for the second week in a row against the Aggies' defensive front.
After rushing for over 150 yards in a game for the first time in his collegiate career against Kentucky in Week 13, Wisner followed up that massive performance with an even bigger one against A&M yesterday. He rushed for a career-high 186 yards on an insane 33 carries, while registering over 200 total yards from scrimmage thanks to over 20 receiving yards on multiple catches out of the backfield.
Wisner proved he can be that workhorse running back that Sarkisian usually has during his reliable history of producing 1,000-yard rushers as a college coach offensively. He showed grit and toughness running between the tackles against a stout Texas A&M front seven to help seal the victory for the Longhorns in the second half.
Over 100 of Wisner's 186 rushing yards against Texas A&M came in the second half to ware down the Aggies front seven.
After the game, Wisner said what we all knew during the game that he was up for the task in the rivalry game against Texas A&M this weekend.
"No matter what type of game it is, whenever my name is called, my job is to step up and do my job."
- Quintrevion Wisner
All the running back injuries the Longhorns had this fall and mainly in preseason camp opened the door for the opportunity for Wisner to grab the starting job. The pace he's on recently, Wisner is within striking distance of continuing Sarkisian's streak of four straight 1,000-yard rushers at Texas as the head coach since the 2021 season.
