3 commitments Texas can get on signing day

Texas can add at least a couple of more commitments its targeting in the 2025 recruiting class during the Early Signing Period starting Wednesday morning (Dec. 4), with the class currently sitting at 23 pledges.

Justus Terry, DL

Announcement time: 11 a.m. CT on Dec. 6

Among the uncommitted recruits Texas is still targeting in the 2025 class entering the first signing day on Dec. 4, one decision to watch later in the week will be for one of the highest rated defensive tackle recruits for this cycle in the nation.

Five-star Manchester (GA) defensive lineman Justus Terry announces on Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. CT at his high school. Terry will decide between the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas late Friday morning.

Based on the recent reporting surrounding this recruitment, Georgia has been the favorite to land Terry's commitment, with Auburn getting more buzz in second place behind head coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs. But the Longhorns and Tide have been sticking around in this recruitment for the past few weeks.

Terry officially visited Texas for the Georgia game at DKR in Austin back in mid October. Chris Gilbert and the Longhorns have been in consistent communication with Terry for the past few weeks, which has kept Texas relevant with his interests heading into signing day from this Wednesday through Friday.

I still think Georgia is probably the favorite to land Terry's pledge when he announces on the final day of the Early Signing Period on Friday. But the fact that Texas has the extra time to make its pitch to Terry in this recruitment before he announces on Dec. 6 means something for the Longhorns for the No. 2 defensive line recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking.
