3 elite 5-Star recruits Texas can land before signing day

Texas can get to at least 25 commitments from high school recruiting in the 2025 class, entering the Early Signing Period (beginning on Dec. 4).

Texas is still in a good spot for the elite five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III, entering his signing day decision later this week. The No. 1 athlete recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking has kept his decision leaning pretty close to the vest in the past couple of months.

At this stage of his recruitment, Terry is down to two schools, Texas and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Texas is still in the pole position in this recruitment, but Nebraska is still fighting hard to give Terry something to think about before making his decision in the next few days.

"Family culture" is reportedly a big factor for Terry in this recruitment, which he's mentioned he likes from both programs he's interested in before signing day.

"I have a good assumption of probably where I'd like to go, but I want to keep talking to my family and make sure that's the right decision for me."

What we do know is that Terry will announce his decision during the Early Signing Period (between Dec. 4 and 6). I still think Texas will be Terry's destination when he decides later this week, which has been the way things have trended in this recruitment since summer official visits last offseason.

A commitment from Terry would not only be a huge addition for the Longhorns in the 2025 class on signing day, but it would also give Sarkisian and staff a big boost as they look to lock up a top-three-ranked class in the nation in the 247Sports Composite for this cycle.
