Which priority portal targets can get Texas back to adding transfers who can immediately upgrade positional needs this upcoming offseason?

Zachariah Branch, WR (USC)

The other top portal wideout target for the Longhorns in the winter transfer window, at the moment, is former USC Trojans elusive sophomore transfer wide receiver Zachariah Branch.

Sarkisian and Jackson would love to have Branch's speed and playmaking ability in this receiving corps on offense. Branch is also a special playmaker in the return game on special teams for kick and punt returns.

Texas is expected to be one of the schools heavily involved in Branch's portal recruitment. Branch does have the no-contact tag since he entered the portal early this week. But it sounds like Branch has some level of interest in considering what Sarkisian and the Longhorns can offer him with this offense for Texas for the upcoming offseason.

One of the big shoes to fall that could impact how much Texas is willing to put into Branch's portal recruitment is the eventual decision of Singleton between multiple SEC schools.

If Singleton passes on Texas and commits to another SEC school involved in his portal recruitment, like Auburn or Ole Miss, then I think the Longhorns will really push to get Branch to campus for a visit in the coming days/weeks.

Another factor to watch in Branch's portal recruitment is the need (or lack thereof) to take his brother, safety Zion Branch, in the defensive secondary. It sounds like Zachariah and Zion could be a package deal in the portal this coming offseason.
