The second portal target on this list, who the Longhorns hosted for a visit on campus in Austin in the past week, is former Purdue redshirt sophomore All-Big Ten Third-Team tight end Max Klare.

The 6-foot-4 and 240-pound tight end and two-time transfer Klare would be a great fit as a receiving tight end threat in Sarkisian's offense. Sarkisian values the tight end position so much in this offense, and the Longhorns need someone at this spot who can be a blocker at H-back and proven receiving production.

After losing All-Big 12 tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas is expected to lose their most productive receiving tight end this season, senior Gunnar Helm.

Klare has one of the more wide open portal recruitment of any of the transfer targets the Longhorns are pursuing in the winter window in the last week or 10 days. He's taken visits to see the Louisville Cardinals and Michigan Wolverines early this week. Klare also took visits to see the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas late last week.

Since Klare left the Longhorns' campus last week without having committed to Texas, this portal recruitment is anyone's best guess where he ends up right now. Texas has the academics and fit with the offense to offer Klare. But Louisville has coaching staff connections from Klare's high school coach with their team.

Texas A&M and Michigan have also present intriguing options to Klare during their portal visits with the All-Big Ten tight end in the past five days or so.
