The national exposure of one of the biggest rivalry games in the country, the Red River Rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas this weekend, can help Texas football and the Oklahoma Sooners gain more attention and positive impacts on the recruiting trail.

Since the Longhorns and Sooners have so much crossover in their battles on the recruiting trail each cycle, Red River can have a huge impact on each team's future prospects for key prospects and recruitments.

Oklahoma is the host team this year for the Red River Rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas. That means head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners will get to host visiting recruits and the distribution of tickets at the Cotton Bowl for Red River this upcoming weekend.

Here are three important visiting recruits that the Sooners are hosting for Red River this weekend who are important to the Longhorns in the 2026 and 2027 classes.

Kaydon Finley, WR

High-four-star 2026 Aledo (TX) wide receiver Kaydon Finley will see the Longhorns play in-person multiple times in October. This upcoming weekend, Finley makes the short trip from Aledo to the fairgrounds in Dallas and the Cotton Bowl to see the Longhorns and Sooners square off in Red River.

Finley is also part of the massive Longhorns' visitor list (per Inside Texas) for the highly-anticipated SEC matchup next weekend at DKR between Texas and the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs in Austin.

Both Texas and Oklahoma are high on the list among the top schools early in Finley's recruitment. While he is the son of former Texas star tight end Jermichael Finley, Kaydon's recruitment is going to be far from a slam dunk for the Longhorns' coaching staff for the 2026 cycle.
