3 in-state 2027 recruits that Texas fans everywhere want to see land in Austin

The state of Texas is chock full of top-notch recruits in 2027, and there are a few players who Longhorns fans want to see "stay home".

In addition to some of the already committed in-state targets such as Ty Knutson, Cameron Hall, and Karnell James, there are a few other Texas high schoolers who would look excellent in burnt orange in 2027.

Though quite a few of the Longhorns' priority targets are in the surrounding states and Florida, three players who could be incredibly impactful are located within a four-hour drive of Austin.

3 in-state recruits who could be future stars in the 2027 class

OT Ismael Camara - Gilmer, TX

Camara is one of the largest offensive linemen (6'6.5", 340 lbs.) in the 2027 class, and ironically one of the most athletic as well. His ability to run off the ball and move around in space makes him look like a seasoned collegiate offensive linemen playing at the high school level.

The mammoth-sized blocker is currently ranked as the No.3 IOL prospect in the class, and he has the potential to be a standout offensive tackle or guard at the next level. He's an absolute mauler in the run game and a dancing bear in pass protection, which makes it easy to see why he's a top offensive lineman right now.

If Steve Sarkisian and Co. can find a way to bring him to Texas, the Longhorns could be adding a player who could make an impact along the offensive line right away as a true freshman.

OT Brian Swanson - Dallas, TX

Much like Camara, one of the state's top offensive linemen is incredibly versatile from an inside-outside standpoint. Swanson's size (6'6", 320 lbs.) and strength could be utilized at either offensive tackle or guard, but his length could make him a better fit at tackle for a team like Texas.

He's shown effectiveness as a zone-blocker and puller in the run game, which modes well for his potential in a Steve Sarkisian-led ground attack. Sark loves to use lots of different schemes in the run game, and adding someone who's already well-versed and productive in quite a few of those would be incredibly helpful.

Swanson already appears to be "leaning" towards Texas as well.

DE Brayden Booth - San Antonio, TX

With Colin Simmons likely leaving for the NFL Draft following the 2026 season, the Longhorns need to do everytihng they can to continue stacking elite talent at the defensive end position going forward.

Yes, they already have guys like Richard Wesley and Jamarion Carlton in the mix from the 2026 class, but the more pass rushers you can have, the better. Being able to add a long, 6'5", 225-pound edge defender with tons of potential in next year's class couldn't hurt, and EDGE Coach LaAllan Clark loves Booth's game.

Texas fans have been pining for these players over the past few months, and there's a decent chance that the Longhorns could land at least two of these guys before national signing day. Ismael Camara being the only "wildcard" right now, according to multiple recruiting platforms.
