Isaiah Bond, WR
Horns247 reported this weekend that junior wide receiver Isaiah Bond returned to practice this week for the Longhorns. He was reportedly a full participant in Friday's practice in team drills during the 15-minute media viewing window.
Bond's return as a full participant in practice with the first-team offense for the Longhorns was one of the pleasant surprises and takeaways from Friday's practice during the media viewing portion.
He reportedly was a full participant during the one-on-one wide receiver route drills in the full pads practice on Friday.
The injury status for Bond heading into the Playoff quarterfinal game in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day against Arizona State hasn't been confirmed. It is a positive development that he has returned to practice as a full participant, and that he looked good moving on that ankle that he had to deal with recurring injuries for the second half of the season, though.
Bond originally suffered the ankle injury in the Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners in mid-October. He played through the ankle injury in Texas's loss on Oct. 19 to the Georgia Bulldogs. But Bond missed the Vanderbilt game on Oct. 26.
He reaggravated the ankle injury and was dealing with a high-ankle sprain after he was rolled up on in a play blocking downfield for Wisner and the Longhorns in the SEC Championship against Georgia on Dec. 7. Bond did not play in the first round Playoff win over Clemson last weekend on Dec. 21.
Bond has been a significant contributor to Texas's offense and receiving corps this season. He ranks third on the team in receiving yards (532) and fourth in receiving touchdowns (five).
