Morice Blackwell Jr., LB

There has not been any change to the "doubtful" status of senior Texas linebacker Morice Blackwell Jr. for the Arkansas game on the Thursday injury report for this weekend. Blackwell played 21 defensive snaps for the Longhorns last weekend in the win over Florida.

This season, Blackwell has 21 combined tackles and five defensive stops over nine games played. Blackwell has also consistently made an impact on Texas's special teams units, including in field goal, kickoff, and punt coverage and returns.

He's played double-digit defensive snaps in seven games for the Longhorns this fall.

With the special teams coverage units, Blackwell has registered three combined tackles, tied for second-most for the Longhorns in that respect.

Expect to see more of sophomore Liona Lefau and potentially even true freshman Ty'Anthony Smith at the linebacker position for Texas in this game against Arkansas, if Blackwell is out due to injury this weekend.

Texas has shown tremendous depth at the linebacker position this fall. Four Texas linebackers have played over 100 defensive snaps this season, including senior David Gbenda, sophomore Anthony Hill Jr., Lefau, and Blackwell. Four Texas linebackers have at least a half dozen defensive stops and one turnover forced.
